Why build an indoor soccer center from a warehouse?
The advantages are many:
- If not too old, they generally have flat and smooth concrete slabs that require no additional work to install the 5 a side courts;
- Roof height is never an issue (5mt is generally the minimum required height for a 5 a side field).
- As they are conceived as industrial spaces, warehouses generally offer large spans and few columns, and a steel or concrete frame, thus allowing the installation of fields of adequate size with perfectly tensed netting.
Substantial advantages also exist when it comes to building an indoor soccer center inside a warehouse:
- A warehouse has its own electricity and water network
- Sometimes offices can be re-purposed to create a lounge for the clients
If it is not the case, there are two ways of proceeding:
- to build an independent prefabricated structure inside the warehouse (i.e: using containers like we did in GOLAGOL Barcelona, Spain)
- to use the warehouse walls and work with plasterboards to design the new spaces according to the client’s needs (see Monclub 2.0 in Marseille, France).
However, attention should be paid .
Indoor soccer is a form of football that has spread all over Europe in the last 2 decades. Unlike regular soccer courts, or even futsal courts, an indoor soccer court requires limited space, and this enhances the profitability of the facilities. This is more true in cold weather regions, like in Northern Europe, where rain and wind may affect the results by 25%.
Warehouses exist everywhere and this makes the concept duplicable either in Countries with a climate similar to France or England, characterized by many days of bad weather, or in the Emirates where the weather is too hot.
Finally, it is very important that the overall investment be in line with the expected turnover of the venue, in order to maximize the return on the investment.
WSBSPORT helps with the general assessment to build an indoor soccer center, and ensures that the site complies with local rules and regulations for private commercial businesses open to the public, with the objective of making a wise decision depending on the available budget and the recommendations of the feasibility study.
